Sister Walks For Sickle Cell - websinker @ 07:15 EST
Sister Bertha Sparks, '64, will be walking on Saturday, May 3,2008 at 9:00 A.M., in the 14th Annual Walk-a-Thon sponsored by Fredericksburg Area Sickle Cell Association Inc.

This year's theme is "United For And Committed To Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness." FASCA is supportive of an effort this year to help fund a bone marrow transplant (the only known cure for sickle cell disease) for Destany Carpenter, our 10-year-old client.

Minisink family may support Sr. Bertha's efforts by sending a check or money -- made out to FASCA -- to:

Congratulations to Brothers Jamal Joseph, Charles Mack and Tevin Thomas. They have have been nominated for an Academy Award ("Music Written for Motion Pictures") for the song, "Raise It Up", from the movie "August Rush". Awards will be presented on February 24.

In its annual October transition, The Order of The Feather Fraternity, Inc. has elected Brother Avon T Morgan, '66, Chairman of The Senior Council.

Brother Isaac James, '94, becomes the new President of The Order's Bonnet Lodge. Congratulations to the new leadership team.

Ike Trouth, '64, Elected - websinker @ 07:28 EST
"How-how" to Brother Isaac Trouth, Feather 64/06, on his successful bid to become District 4 Councilman on the Bowie Md City Council. "Excited" to be serving in his new capacity as that of "Community Councilman", Brother Ike will be one of seven members of a representative body that governs a city of some 60,000 residents; located 12 miles east of Washington DC.


Br. Ike, having previously served on several local citizens' committees as a volunteer and as Trustee Treasurer of Mt Moriah Baptist Church, becomes the first Minisink alumnus known to be elected to public office. In his "day job", Br Isaac Trouth (PhD) is a Renal Care Specialist with a national pharmaceuticals firm.

Several Brothers contributed to this successful bid.
